Been here in Indonesia for a year and four months already... Having been able to spent that past year and four months here working with a very diverse set of nationalities, I thought I'll write a blog entry for different accents I find really amusing (oopss, is the correct word to use he he).
Here it goes...
indonesians always seem to end almost every sentence they are saying with "ya." it doesn't matter if they talk to a fellow indonesian in the local bahasa language or they talk to an expat in english. they will always say "ya" after each sentence, sometimes even in the middle of. Also, indonesians seem to pronounce 'v' as 'f' (example: Java will sound like Jafa).

My current work gives me a little financial flexibility as I am being paid a little above ordinary. Add to it that I'll be earning this much, plus yearly increase, for more than 3 years. I'd get to take a three-week vacation after every four months and the plane tickets are free. Daily meals, laundry and transportation are free. Sounds like a nice job. What more can I ask for?On the down side...I am away from my family. I am in a foreign land where (local) people are too dim-witted, have the tendency to be (over) violent, envious, narrow minded, unhygienic, noisy, and all negative adjectives I can think of that I don't want to write here. People here are very inclined to follow a "leftist" leaders who'll drag them towards the wrong way. Demonstration is a common thing to these guys. Even worse than the demonstrators in my country.

With the recently concluded practice session yesterday at Suzuka, later today the 17th stage of the F1 Grand Prix World Championship will now come to the qualifying stage. This will be even more exciting because as for the four fastest cars in the practice session yesterday, it's all blue and red, Renault and Ferrari. Shall we see the same after the qualifying rounds? I definitely will bet on that.
Now what other factors might play for the continuing battle between Renault and Ferrari for the Constructors' championship? How about between Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonzo on the Driver's Championship? And also for the third place fight between Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fissichela? This is going to be Bridgestone's home grand prix and everybody in Suzuka is expecting for cars using Bridgestone tire to perform well ahead and better than those cars using the other tire. This might play a factor...Tires are definitely big influence in the outcome of the race. Another is that Schumi might be more inspired more than ever since this is going to be his last race in Japan and one of the two last chances for an unbelievable 8th F1 World Championship. How about Alonzo's pride in defending his crown? Will Massa show now that he's more prepared now to take on Ferrari's top driver for the 2007 season? How about the weather? Forecast for the race day will be sunny...but you cannot exactly tell... There are still so much to enumerate with regards to factors that might affect the outcome of the race in Suzuka like team performance, pit strategy, etc. but only one thing's for sure.. The fight for the chequered flag and ultimate championship goals will go down the wire... Good luck to both Renault and Ferrari.

this incoming presentation is worse than I imagined. the company I am working for will have to compete with another company regarding what computer program will be used for a certain project. the competing company sent us their presentation material with sample screenshots of their system after we sent ours to them. shet, their system is built using VB .NET & SQL Server utilizing the latest Web technology. ours is built using VBA Access and Oracle. seems like there is no competition. they flat out beat us when it comes to technology-wise comparison. at least on paper. well, we definitely have the advantage on the back end used.

Last night, while watching some crappy movie I noticed that whenever a sexy girl will be shown close up on the camera the scene would go in slow motion. This allowed me (and presumably other viewers) to see more closely every heavenly curves of there are to see. Same thing goes for sports telecasts. Every exciting plays, controversial calls and winning moments are shown repeatedly in slow motion.I was thinking... wouldn't it be great if we can wear some sort of eyeglasses equipped with slow motion device and playback? With this i can view all over again my favorite scene of the day and be able to do a slow motion thingy when i hang out of some swimming pool and watch some ladies get off the pool with water dripping off their sultry, curvaceous bodies.

Social networking websites suchs as MySpace.com, Friendster.com, etc are now providing the fastest way to gain "cyber friends" which you can also meet in person if both you and your "friend" decided to do so. These kind of online relationship is so common worldwide nowadays. According to some worrying studies, people who invest much time developing online relationships are becoming less aware of nurturing their friendship with their real friends (and family) in the real world. This is the result of our obsession in technology. To make the world seem smaller. To have faster and broader connectivity.

Ever been a victim of domestic violence? How about the one who committed the violence (I hope you're not)? Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women of ages 15 to 44 in the US. This is more than car accidents, muggings and rape all combined together. Also, family violence has killed more women during the years 1991-1995 than all soldiers killed in action in the Vietnam war. And until now there's no indication that the trend is slowing down.
But what is domestic violence anyway? According to wikipedia.org:
"Domestic violence occurs when a family member, partner or ex-partner attempts to physically or psychologically dominate or harm the other. The term "intimate partner violence" (IPV) is often used synonymously, other terms have included "wife beating", "wife battering", "Man Beating", "husband battering", "relationship violence", "domestic abuse", "spousal abuse", and "family violence" with some legal jurisdictions having specific definitions.
